My love of drawing started as a kid, by scribbling the faces of every church-goer down the pews each Sunday, when I probably should have been paying attention! I have a BA in Studio Art and a BFA in Visual Art Studies (Art Education), both from the University of Texas.  The best part of my day is reading books together with my two sons at bedtime. When I’m not drawing, writing or Mom-ing, you can find me running Fresh Mint Photo Booth in Austin, Texas.  I taught middle school and elementary art for 13 years, and my art lessons reach budding artists worldwide on my YouTube channel.

I am a proud member of SCBWI.

I write middle grade narratives that draw on my love of fables and folk tales.  My mixed media illustrations are a painterly blend of magical realism and conceptual designs, focusing on the magic and wonder of childhood, the awkwardness of the tween years and children’s connection to nature.  I like to use a mix of traditional and digital media: colored pencil, watercolor, ink, and Procreate.

My debut picture book, Local Baby: Austin (Arcadia Publishing), launched in 2022!
